“Let your requests be made known to God.” (Phil. 4:6) As Christians, we talk about prayer. As pastors, we instruct others to pray. In Sunday school, we discuss prayer. But all of this begs the question, “Do we actually pray?”

“It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out.” (Proverbs 25:2) The Lord could have given us a 100-page book and offered to simplify the answers to all of our questions.

“Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep your word.” (Psalm 119:67) It would be sadistic to say we enjoy affliction. It would also require us to embrace an Eastern worldview and philosophy.
