Big changes are coming for the Town of Stonewall! The town has agreed to a contract with Waste Pro to pick up garbage beginning on February 1.
Circuit Clerk Beth Jordan officially retired after January 2 this year. Her final duty in office was to help conduct the swearing in ceremony for all elected officials.
Since the 1970s, Waltman Realty has serviced an eight county area, but the family owned business will be closing on December 31. Although the decision was hard to make, Cindi Waltman Conner believes that she is doing what is best for her and her family at this time.
Tornadoes ravaged through the county on Monday night, leaving multiple families with property damage or without homes. Emergency responders worked hard throughout the night rescuing families and clearing roadways of debris.
The Town of Pachuta now has a new sawmill, which started operation mid-October. The mill is owned by Mark Snowden and Winn Alexander.
“We can be a sawmill for pine and hardwood,” stated Snowden, “but we’re hoping we can do majority pine.”
