The Clarke County Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet/Meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 27, 2020, at 6:30 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Quitman.
Authorities are still investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, December 22. The shooting occurred at The Meeting Place on Highway 18 West. A nearby neighbor heard the gunshots and reported the incident to the authorities.

Mr. Reese Knox of Stonewall, MS, passed away at Rush Hospital Wednesday, December 25, 2019. Mr. Knox was born on October 2, 1925, to the late Reese Knox, Sr. and Estella Henderson of Stonewall. He was married to Mrs. Beatrice Doby Knox who preceded him in death.
Birdie Jean Davidson, 88, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on Christmas Day at her home surrounded by the love of her family, her loyal caregiver, Joyce Jury, and her minister, Bro. Dennis Coats.
