CCSO makes drug bust

Two local men were arrested Wednesday, July 31 after search and arrest warrants were issued for sale of methamphetamines, according to Sheriff Todd Kemp.

On July 31st at 6 a.m. the Clarke County Sheriff’s Department, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, and the Mississippi Highway Patrol Swat Team converged on a home on Hwy. 18 West of Quitman. The MHP Swat team was sent in to secure the home due to information the two were armed. Weapons were seized in the raid.

Carlos Morgan was charged with 2 counts of the sale of meth, sale of meth within 1500 feet of a church and possession of marijuana. His bond was set at $15,000 by Judge Bonner.

Robert Chucky Heidelburg was charged with conspiracy to sale meth and possession of marijuana. Heidleburg’s bond was denied due to the fact he was on probation for murder. His probation was revoked, and he will be sent to the Mississippi State Penitentiary.

“This stemmed from a several months long investigation by the MBN and our Narcotics Task Force,” said Kemp.

Both men will be presented to the Grand Jury in September.

“We’ve made several other arrests with meth lately,” added Kemp. “It’s plagued our community and we will continue to fight the fight. I’ve said from day one, I have a no tolerance policy for drugs and we will continue to work on that.”
