Enterprise Library renamed Mary Jane Evans Memorial Lib.

The East Mississippi Regional Library has renamed the Enterprise Public Library to the Mary Jane Evans Memorial Library in honor of Mrs. Jane who was the librarian for 28 years until her passing in 2018. A reception was held Thursday, August 8, 2019, to honor Mrs. Jane and her family.

Her daughter and family, Tanya and Kip Murray, and daughter Savanna; and son and wife, Keith and Nancy Evans, attended the event.

“She loved every one of you so much,” said Tanya Murray. “One things told me before she passed was she had a happy life. ‘I had something a lot of people don’t ever get, a job for almost 30 years that I loved.’ She loved this library and she loved this town.”

Mayor Larry Murray had great praises of Mary Jane:

“Mrs. Jane was a great lady. I am honored to be a part of this honor to name this Mrs. Jane’s library, because it is really was her library. We never had a complaint as long as Mrs. Jane was in the library. She always had a smile on her face. We are going to miss Mrs. Jane. We appreciate everything she did for this town.” – Mayor Larry Murray

Alisha Underwood is the current librarian at Enterprise. Hours are Monday-Thursday from noon – 5 p.m. Come by the library and check out not only a book, but the new fast internet.
