Law officials investigating arson

A fire was reported at a house on Thompson Ave. early in the morning on September 11. When responders got to the scene, they discovered where two Molotov Cocktails, homemade incendiary bombs, were the cause of the fire. One cocktail had been placed on a vehicle in the yard and ignited, catching the vehicle on fire. A second cocktail had been thrown through one of the bedroom windows, but failed to ignite. At the time of the incident, there were five people in the residence, and no one sustained any injuries. The Quitman Police and Fire Departments, as well as Fire Investigator Shane Harper, all responded to the call. An arson investigation is still being conducted at this time, and the state fire marshal is assisting in the investigation. Authorities have not made an arrest in the case yet.
