Delores Parker, 88, peacefully passed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, August, 3, 2019 after succumbing to complications from congestive heart failure. Services were held Wednesday, August 7 with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. and the service at 3:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Coats officiating. Interment was at Enterprise Cemetery in Enterprise, Mississippi.
Delores was born on February 28, 1931 in Enterprise to Maxine and Jimmy Davis. Later, they, along with her two younger brothers, Bobby and Buddy, moved to Stonewall to make their home. It was here, as a child, she met the love of her life, Francis Parker. They both attended and graduated Enterprise High in 1948. Delores was an outstanding basketball player and this is where her love of sports began.
Francis and Delores were married November 18, 1949 at Stonewall Baptist Church. She was a homemaker early in their marriage as children, Vicki, Gary, Jan and Dana came along. In 1961 the couple made the decision to move to Quitman and open Odorless Cleaners which they both owned and operated.
Delores and Francis raised their children in a Christian home and taught them the value of hard work. They set a daily example of true love and dedication. There was always laughter in the home as well as discipline.
Delores taught 5 year old Sunday School at First Baptist Church for numerous years always trying to make it interesting for the little ones with innovative crafts. She would pop popcorn and even make playdough.
In later years, Delores picked up her crocheting again and hopefully you were a recipient of one of her beautiful creations being either a baby blanket, scarf or pot holder. She loved college football and basketball (SEC) and on any weekend could quote all the scores, players and coaches.
Mamaw loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always looked forward to the visits and everyone being home for Christmas. There was plenty of food and presents for everyone to enjoy.
Delores is preceded in death by her dear husband of 57 years, Francis; grandson, James Derek Parker; parents, Jimmy and Maxine Davis; and brothers, Bobby Davis and Clifton "Buddy" Davis.
She is survived by her children, Vicki (Donnie) Mathis, Gary (Jerry Kaye) Parker, Jan (Tony) Bishop, Dana (Gary) Rodgers; grandchildren, Ryan (Reanna) Mathis, Lauren (Max) Brock, Keri Mathis, Chris (Katie) Parker, Craig Parker, Brent (Shannan) Bishop, Cory (Janice) Bishop, Leah (Kelly) Jimmerson, Katelyn Rodgers; great grandchildren, Gavin Mathis, Grant Mathis, Mason Brock, Mathis Brock Gage Parker, Talon Parker, Ethan Parker, Davis Parker, Garett Parker, Greyson Bishop, Piper Bishop, Layla Soriano, Logan Bishop, Kinslee Jimmerson, Kennedi Jimmerson and Kannon Jimmerson; numerous nieces and nephews including special nephews, Richard Davis, Scott Davis and Keith Davis; special cousin, Ronnie Moore; and dear friend, Sandra Mosley.
