George Hoyet Mathis

George Hoyet Mathis, 80, of Quitman, passed away on  September 12, 2017, at his residence.  He was born on February 22, 1937 to George and Annie (Moffett) Mathis in Clarke County, MS.

Hoyet was retired as a Game Warden from Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries & Parks.  He was the owner of Mathis Peaches.

He is survived by his wife, Myra Mathis; son, Randy (Tammy) Mathis; daughter, Lisa Mathis (Joey) Smith; grandchildren, Randa Mathis (Jakeb) Bailey, Ridge Mathis, Brody Smith, Gracie Smith, Kristina Monsour and Kyle Clinton; great-granddaughter, Kylie Jo Clinton; and niece, Elizabeth (Dr. Robert) Greenleaf. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2017, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, 2:00 pm at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Delores Bailey officiating. Burial will take place in the Shady Grove Church of God Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ridge Mathis, Jakeb Bailey, Brent Etheridge, Robert Benson, Alan Mathis, and Kyle Clinton.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Raymond McDonald, Robert Greenleaf, and Brody Smith.
