Joe Thomas Blair

Funeral services for Joe Thomas Blair will be held Monday, April 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Quitman, with Dr. Gene Neal, Rev. Grady Crowell and Rev. Dennis Coats officiating.

Mr. Blair died April 27, 2018 at his home.  He was born in Quitman on August 23, 1927 to W. E. Blair and Ada Crosby Blair.  He graduated from Quitman High school and the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.  After graduation he served in the US Navy and for a number of years in the Army Reserve.  On June 29, 1952, he married the love of his life, Faye Ford, who he met at USM.  He worked with his father and brothers at W.E. Blair's Store, which later became W.E. Blair Sons Department Store.  He truly enjoyed working, serving customers, and conversing with his friends.  He was a member of First Baptist Church for 80 years where he was a deacon, chairman of the building committee, and very active in all other aspects of the church.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Elizabeth Blair and Sybil Johnson, and brother Warren L. Blair.  He is survived by his loving wife, Faye.  He is also survived by his daughters Betty Turman and her husband Terry of Gordo, Alabama; Lynda Bagley and her husband Larry of Meridian; and four grandchildren, Chris Rudder, Ryan Rudder and wife Sandra, Blair Holmes and husband Austin, Laura Scarbrough and husband Taylor.  Mr. Blair was blessed with three great grandchildren, Tucker Holmes, Harper Holmes and Naomi Rudder.  He is also survived by his brother James R. Blair and wife June of Quitman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chris Rudder, Ryan Rudder, Austin Holmes, Taylor Scarbrough, Bill Blair, and Ron Holloway.

Honorary Pallbearers are members of the James Morgan's Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, Quitman.
