Mamie Lee Hill

age 75 from Quitman, MS was called to Heaven on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. Mamie was born in Marianna, Fl to the late Mr. Leroy White and Beulah Godwin White on July 12, 1943. She was a graduate of Jackson County Training School in Marianna, Florida, Class of 1962.

It was in Marianna that Mamie met and later married Mr. Nathan Hill in October of 1963.  They were married for 41 years until his death in February of 2005.  To this union, six children were born, two boys and four girls.

The couple relocated to several cities in Florida and Mississippi before settling in Quitman, MS where they made their home in the early 70s.  While in Quitman, Mamie was employed briefly at the Quitman Headstart and the Quitman Jr. High School Library.  She was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker.  She loved to bake.  Ask any of her family about her Chocolate Cake, 7-up Cake, Banana Pudding, and Sweet Potato Pie!  Her favorite hobby was watching Korean daytime love stories for hours while reading the English subtitles.  She couldn’t understand a word of Korean, but she loved the stories.  She also loved watching the QVC online shopping network.

Mamie was dedicated to the care of her family, especially her grandchildren.  She leaves to cherish her memories and to remember her love, her children: Sons: Nathan J.
