The Quitman Panthers took on the West Lauderdale Nights last Friday night and come back for the win after a tough game.
Panthers started the first quarter with a kick off from # 36 Tyler Hines followed by Knights gaining control of the ball. After gaining ground on the Panthers, the Knights scored a touchdown and successful field goal, scoring 7 points against the Panthers. Minutes later, the Knights scored again, but failed the extra point, scoring only 6 points. The total score for the end of the first quarter was Panthers 0 - Knights 13.
In the second quarter, the Panthers turned things around as Lucky #7 Ke’sean Johnson, scored a touchdown for the Panthers, but with an unsuccessful extra point, the total score was 6 points. Minutes later, the Knights scored another touchdown against the Panthers, but they only scored 6 points after failing another PAT. The Panthers retaliated as #27 Brandon Hicks lands a touchdown and #36 Tyler Hines kicks a successful PAT. Moments later, #20 Sankoreion Watts scored a touchdown and #36 Tyler Hines followed with another successful kick. The final score of the quarter was Panthers 20 - Knights 19
The Big Blue Crew stepped on the field, wielding a new sound system and uniforms, shouting the Duet between flute player, Dixie Pinkerton, and saxophone player, Anthony Evans, for the people miles away to hear. The Big Blue Crew is making a big blue comeback!
The Panthers scored again when Lucky #7 Ke’sean Johnson lands another touchdown and #36 Tyler Hines sent the ball flying with another successful PAT. The Panthers’ performance in the third quarter got the crowd excited as they roared throughout the home side of the stadium. The stadium creaked, the ground shook, and the Panthers were soaking it in as there was no end to the Panther Spirit. The end of the quarter score was Panthers 27 - Knights 19.
In the final quarter, the Panthers scored again as #12 Frederick Scruggs landed the final touchdown and #36 Tyler Hines scored another PAT. With only minutes left in the game, #36 Tyler Hines scored a 3 point kick. At the end of the game, the Panthers win with a final score of Panthers 37 - Knights 19.
The Panthers will travel to Northeast Lauderdale to face off against the Trojans on Friday, September 27 at 7:00 p.m.
