While authorities were participating in an active shooter drill at Enterprise Middle School this past Friday, a call came in reporting gunshots fired in Stonewall. The authorities quickly left the drill to take care of the situation.
“During the drill, we all had to leave to deal with a shots fired call on Woodland Drive in Stonewall,” explained Sheriff Todd Kemp. “Upon arrival, there were no visible guns, but there was a group at one house and a group at another house saying that this one shot at them and that one shot at them. Officers began investigating it at that time.”
Three individuals were taken into custody for the incident. They determined who the shooter was and charged him for the incident. One of the individuals was wanted in Meridian and another one was wanted in Laurel, so they were turned over to those authorities and are in jail.
The shooting was not the first time authorities had to deal with the group that week.
“We answered numerous calls at that house prior to the shooting that took place Friday morning,” expressed Kemp.
There were no injuries reported during the incident.
