Hello Everyone! Now that the time has changed we have more daylight / longer days. Initially we might feel that we are losing an hour of sleep, until we come to the realization that in exchange we’re gaining an hour of daylight. I love Daylight Savings Time. I love the longer days. I hope you enjoy them too.

Hello friends! I hope you had a great weekend. My family and I attempted to go to the Slidell St. Patrick’s Day Parade, but due to rain we decided to skip out and just spend the day together. We are hoping to make one of the other Irish or St. Patrick’s Day Parades or activities coming up.
Please remember the Fire Ban is still in place and check Facebook, with the fire dept or the news for when it will be lifted.

Hello again everyone. I hope you all had a great week. Thank the Lord for the good and well needed rain that we received last week. On Sunday the 8th I poured 4 inches out of my rain gauge. Not sure if that will lift the "burn ban" or not, but in any case, please be careful with burning trash, leaves, etc.
Also it's that time of year for all the yellow stuff called pollen.
So, did you all get used to this new time yet. I think I'm still sleepy from losing an hour last Saturday night.

The Franklinton Waverley Club held its March meeting on Thursday, March 5 at the Rock House. Hostesses for the St. Patrick's Day themed meeting were Juhn Marie Green, Karen Spears, Sierra Smith, and Karen Watson. Ladies enjoyed an Irish meal of spinach pasta, corned beef sliders, fruit salad and sherbet for dessert. Tables were decorated with vases containing sprigs of green and gold amidst gold coins. Member Cecile Green received the special honor of having Happy Birthday sung by the members.

The Town of Franklinton recently officially awarded its Solid Waste Contract to Amwaste of Louisiana.
Amwaste of Louisiana was already the Town’s current waste service provider at the time of the award, secured the new agreement, solidifying its partnership with the Town for an additional five years.

According to Co-chairmen Ann Warner and Sara Nelson, art is blossoming locally as artists plan for the annual Washington Art Association Show and Sale, to be held Sunday, March 22 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the lovely home of Mrs. Nelson in Clifton. The show has been held there for many years and is easy to find.

Although presidents from both political parties process no desire to carry on wars throughout the Middle East, history shows otherwise. The bigger question is just how much involvement should the United States undertake in the Middle East? We have been fighting endless wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and putting out never ending brushfires throughout this region for the past 80 years. Some 20,000 American soldiers have lost their lives fighting in this region since 9/11.

The Senate Public Health Committee adopted a strike-all amendment to the House’s Pharmacy Benefit Manager reform bill this week that removed steering prohibitions.
During discussion of HB 1665, State Senator Rita Parks (R) said the strike-all amendment addresses several major concerns with the original version of the bill.

The Mississippi Business Alliance warns lawmakers that mandating high dispensing fees will contribute to already skyrocketing health care costs.
The Mississippi Business Alliance and its members have come out in opposition to the strike-all amendment to HB 1665, which passed the Senate Public Health Committee last week.
HB 1665 is the House’s Pharmacy Benefit Manager reform bill authored by State Rep. Hank Zuber (R). It is the only measure alive this session to put forth PBM reforms.
