AMENDMENT TO ORDINANCE NO. 393
AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TIME AND PLACE FOR CONDUCTING THE REQUIRED MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF QUITMAN
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, meeting in regular session on the 4th day of November 2025, did enter into discussion of the possibility of conducting required meetings at a more favorable time being 10:00 am for both the first regular meeting as well as the subsequent regularly scheduled monthly meeting; as well as amending the provision in the current ordinance which included a specified time for special meetings; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen having determined that the best interest of the citizens of Quitman would be served by conducting the aforesaid regularly scheduled meetings at 10:00 A.M. at the City Hall Municipal Building, 105 East Church Street, Quitman, Mississippi: pursuant to Section 21-3-19, M.C.A., 1972 as amended and other statutes:
WHEREAS, there is no statutory requirement for setting times for special called meetings and the Mayor and Board of Aldermen having determined that it is best for special called meetings to not have a set time, due to the time sensitivity to issues that may arise. The Board thereby desires to make no special provision for a set time as to special-called meetings.
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF QUITMAN, MISSISSIPPI:
Section 1: Beginning with the first regular meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, on January 20, 2026, and all subsequent regular meetings, such shall be conducted at 10:00
A.M. at the Quitman City Hall Municipal Building, located at 105 East Church Street, Quitman, Mississippi.
Section 2: This Ordinance shall take effect (30) days after its passage and after publication according to law. Any provision of any ordinance in conflict herewith is hereby repealed.
