Children all over Clarke County have worked hard for months on end to take care of and work with their animals to prepare for shows this year. Their hard work paid off as they won various awards.
While the main show and sale took place that Friday, the 4-H also does a special needs show. Schools in the area participated, and students were able to show goats and were awarded a trophy after their animals were judged. The special needs show took place on Thursday, January 12.
The celebrity judge for this year’s special needs show was none other than NFL Star Benito Jones from Wayne County. He has a love for livestock and a heart for children, making him the perfect judge for the event.
“I saw all the kids had smiles on their faces, and that’s one thing I like to do,” proclaimed Benito. “I like to bring a smile to their face. I remember when I was in school and guys from my way would come back and talk to us. It just lifted us up knowing someone like that cared about us. I just like to bring a smile back to the community.”
The students were elated for Benito to speak with them and judge their animals. There were many animated conversations and laughs and smiles to go around.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the 4-H Show on both Thursday and Friday!
