Barry Morris White, age 51, passed away peacefully at his home in Quitman, MS, on June 30, 2025, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and service for all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Barry is survived by his two sisters, Leigh White and Sue (Walter) Taylor; a niece, Melissa (Alan) Tingle; great nephew, Parker Tingle; two nephews, Jason Taylor, Jeremy Taylor; and extended family members and countless friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Bennie Morris and Amie Barry White; his maternal grandparents, Warren Barry, Ezra and Clara Satcher; and paternal grandparents, John and Mamie White.
He leaves behind his beloved donkey, Harold, along with two spoiled boxers, Callie and Duke.
Barry was a graduate of Quitman High School and a longtime member of Rolling Creek Baptist Church. His achievements were powerful testaments to his loyalty and integrity. Barry brought heart, dedication, and passion for 31 years to the Clarke County Sheriff’s Department. He served the community as the Chief Deputy of Clarke County and served for a short time as Clarke County Coroner. Barry was the first school resource officer for Quitman School District, a volunteer fire fighter of Rolling Creek, and an honorary member of the Mississippi Sheriff’s Association.
Barry had a passion for kayaking and cruising the seas with family and dear friends. Together, they created countless memories that will be cherished by those whom he shared them with. Another favorite was the beach, a place of comfort and relaxation when he found time to get away. Barry also enjoyed playing dominos and checkers, first taught to him by his grandmother, “Mamaw White.” He loved to dine out with anyone who would go with him and had a keen interest in history.
Those who knew Barry will remember his unique sense of humor and his unwavering devotion to placing others before himself. He approached every encounter with empathy and purpose. Whether through quiet acts of kindness or bold leadership, his presence left an imprint on every heart he touched. Barry’s life was not just lived, it was given, over and over, in the service of others. Although his physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing as we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. His light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
