Benjamin Eric Robinson, Sr., 73, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on May 26, 2023, in Birmingham, Alabama.
He was born on December 7, 1949, to Glynn and Gertie Bell (Martin) Robinson in Mobile, AL.
Eric was an active member of First Baptist Church of Quitman, MS, and a member of the Co-Ed 3 Sunday School class. He was a veteran of the Air National Guard, where he was stationed in Meridian, MS. He started his career as a manager of the IGA grocery store in Stonewall, MS, and then became an insurance agent for several different companies. Eric then served in public office as an alderman for the City of Quitman for several terms. He then served as a State Representative for District 84 in the Mississippi House of Representatives. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that was devoted to his Christian faith and his love for this country. He enjoyed his retirement by spending time with his family and all of his many friends and acquaintances that knew him.
Eric is survived by his wife, Teresa Robinson; son, Benjamin Eric "Ben" (Kelly) Robinson, Jr.; daughter, Brandi R. (Matt) Kennedy; four grandchildren, Elijah Hayes Kennedy, John Carter Kennedy, Brady Glynn Robinson, Benjamin Chase Robinson; sister, Ramona R. Smith; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glynn Robinson; mother, Gertie Bell Robinson; and two sisters, Iris Rebecca Ledbetter and Deborah Lynn Robinson.
Pallbearers are Eli Kennedy, John Carter Kennedy, Brady Robinson, Benjamin Robinson, Chip Ledbetter, and Tal Robinson.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church (Quitman), Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, 12:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church (Quitman) with Dr. Gene Neal and Rev. Dennis Coats officiating.
Burial will take place in the Pine Hill Church Cemetery.
