When we think of the purpose of a bullet, we think of it as a means of killing something, such as a poisonous snake in the year or some venison on the hoof in the fall. Bullets are not useful for everything we want to resolve – a person can try a bullet for problem resolution that could put him in prison.
There is a weapon that can basically resolve everything – the words that come out of our mouths. The Bible is full of instruction on use of our words and after all, God has always spoken things into being, such as in creation. Science has supported this impact also such as research done on how our words affect the water molecules that make up around 60 percent of the adult human body. Positive words make beautiful snowflake type crystals of water and negative words make ugly water. Just like God’s use of words, our words speak stuff into being.
Most of us pay little to no attention to our words. We think it and it comes out. This means that the root of our lives truly is in the thoughts of our hearts. But words and thoughts and actions seem to have a reciprocal relationship. We can act on something long enough for it to be a habit and form our words and thoughts. We can also say something to ourselves enough for it to become a habit of thought.
Examples of words to “correct” are those that carry a seed of “not” or “never” – those words are killers on possibilities. Those words live out fear and worry instead of faith and the other fruits of the spirit.
Words to live by are the words of hope and faith – basically we need to be God’s Word in the flesh – like Jesus was. The more we take in God’s Word, the more that will happen.
