Bobby Jean Long, 88, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home on June 1, 2026.
He was born on August 25, 1937, to Freeman and Susie (Lee) Long in Quitman, Mississippi.
Bobby will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, especially fox hunting, which he enjoyed all of his life. He worked 23 years at Burlington Cotton Mill. Bobby lived a simple, steady life and will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Rose M. Long; daughter, Sheila Long Ivy (Danny); two grandchildren, West Moore (Erin) and Dana Fella; six great-grandchildren, Jayce Moore, Jalyn Moore, Noah Fella, Jade Fella, Blaine Moore, and Bryce Moore; two brothers-in-law, Chris Griffin and Brad Griffin; and one great-great grandchild, Ellie Rae Ivy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Freeman and Susie Long; brother, William Long; and two sisters, Mildred Ivy and Earline Faircloth.
Visitation was held Wednesday, June 3, 2026, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, 12:00 p.m. at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Coats officiating.
Burial took place in the Hebron Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were West Moore, Chris Griffin, Jayce Moore, Blaine Moore, Danny Ivy and Kameron Walker. Honorary Pallbearers were Noah Fella, Bryce Moore and Grant Shirley.
