Jones College finished fourth in the Chris Clark Invitational here Tuesday at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club.
The Bobcats posted a 311-301 – 612 in the 12-team MACCC event just three shots behind third place East Central.
Mississippi Gulf Coast edged Meridian by four strokes in a playoff to win the tournament. The Bulldogs shot 295-302 – 597 and the Eagles had a 292-305 –597. Tournament host East Central fired a 309-300 – 609.
Individually, Sebastian Nowak (Germany) and Drew Groscost (Lewisburg) led the Bobcats and tied for 13thoverall. Nowak had a 73-79 – 152 and Groscost fired a 75-77 –152. Connor Phillips (East Central) shot a 76-77 – 153 and tied for 15th.
Bobcat freshman Josh Tombs (England) posted an 87-70 – 157, which included his second career hole-in-one. Jacob Creel (South Jones) shot an 87-77 – 164 and Maverick Johnson (West Harrison) had an 83-87 – 170.
Meridian’s Jace Ducksworth was tournament medalist with a 71-69 – 140, 4-under par. MGCCC’s Steve Campbell and John Mark Mills tied for second at 144, even par. Hinds’ Stephen Faucheaux was fourth with a 148 and Meridian’s Bruce McClung was fifth with a 149.
Because of weather concerns most of the 36-hole tournament was played on Monday with the final few holes being completed Tuesday morning.
The next MACCC event will be the Lou Hart Invitational March 24-25 at Northwood Country Club in Meridian.
