CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Jones College Bobcats are ranked No. 12 in the NJCAA Division I preseason football poll.
Head coach Steve Buckley’s Bobcats went 8-2 in 2021 and were rated No. 8 in the final NJCAA poll.
Defending champion New Mexico Military Institute is ranked No. 1, followed by Iowa Western, Hutchinson (Kansas), Northwest and Snow College (Utah). East Mississippi is No. 6, followed by Garden City (Kansas), Hinds, Kilgore (Texas) and Independence.
Iowa Central is 11th, followed by Jones, Navarro (Texas), Monroe (New York) and Lackawanna (Pennsylvania). Mississippi Gulf Coast is listed in the “Receiving Votes” category.
Jones opens the 2022 season with a 7 p.m. home game on Sept. 1 vs. Itawamba at Bobcat Stadium/Sim Cooley Field. The Bobcats host No. 6 EMCC on Sept. 8.
Meet the Bobcats September 1
Because of the possibility of rain, the annual “Meet the Bobcats” event has been rescheduled from Aug. 24 to Sept. 1 at Bobcat Stadium/Sim Cooley Field.
The event begins at 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public. All 10 Jones College teams will be on hand signing autographs and having pictures made. Vendors will be set up with giveaways and there will be games for all ages.
Jones will then host Itawamba at 7 p.m. in the 2022 football season opener.
