This year, Breckenridge Farms has plans to host a drive-through nativity event for the community to enjoy. They plan to have their “Journey to Bethlehem” event on December 8-10 and will need assistance from local churches to make it a success. The drive through will be from 5:30-7 each night with revival starting at 7. The event is free to the public since the main goal is to celebrate the birth of the Savior with the community.
For three nights, they will feature 6-10 different scenes showing the birth of Christ along a drive through the vineyard. People would enter the gate and drive through the vineyard in their own vehicles while following a printed guide of scenes, scriptures supporting the scenes, and the church providing the scenes.
There will also be a tent revival taking place after the event. Signs will be present to give directions to where the tent will be set up away from the scenes so that exiting vehicles will not be a distraction. There will be advertisements about the nightly services so that visitors are aware of the meeting at the end of the drive through. It will mimic an old time outdoor tent revival style setting and will begin at a specific time so that there won’t be coming and going during the message. Brother Jeremy Clearman, pastor at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, will be delivering the sermon on Friday night. Visitors who do not want to stay for the revival services will be given the option to drive through the start of the event, turn around, and pass back through to leave.
Churches who would like to participate are asked to provide the following things:
• Scene decorations (props, material)
• Actors (could be the same each night or rotated out, whichever is most convenient)
• Costumes for actors
• Any live animals that would help with authenticity (donkey, sheep, etc.)
• Power supply (generator, extension cords, lights, tools, etc.)
• Workers to set up the scenes prior to the drive through
At this time, First Baptist Church, East Pleasant Grove, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Hepzibah Baptist Church, and Rolling Creek Baptist Church are confirmed to participate in the event. They would like for at least two or more churches to participate as well.
They still need churches to fill the scenes for the trip to Bethlehem and the wise men following the star.
