Bridge Street Grill was excited to officially reopen on May 17. After working hard to renovate the restaurant since a fire caused them to have to momentarily close last June, they are glad to finally be able to see and serve customers again.
Now that they have done the renovations, the restaurant has a whole new look. The walls that once separated the restaurant from the Hair Port have been removed, and the area that the hair salon once filled will now be used for the bakery that owner Shane Simmons plans to start later this year.
“We talked about what we’d like to do with that space, and I said I’d like to start up a bakery with donuts, cakes, and pies. Right now, the closest bakery is in Quitman, so I think it would do very well. We’re probably not going to open the bakery until after August, maybe once school starts back,” explained Shane.
With the addition of the bakery, Shane also plans to make another adjustment to the area that will benefit his customers who are in a hurry: a drive through window. He has already moved the checkout counter to the area so that it can work more efficiently.
“We’re going to have a drive-up window. I still have some stuff that I’m waiting on, but I’m going to put that in,” expressed Shane. “I’m going to put gravel out here and have it where people can just drive up to the window if they want to do a pickup order, and we can just check them out. We’ll see how it works.”
The bakery area isn’t the only change that has been made to the inside. After the fire burned all of the decorations, Shane decided to use a more western style theme this time. One of the biggest new features is a baby grand piano in the big dining room.
“We’ve added a baby grand piano in the back,” stated Shane. “I think it would be something that people might enjoy. Anyone who can play piano is welcome to play on it a little.”
Although the restaurant has a great new look and big plans for the future, Shane made sure to keep up the most important part of the restaurant: the food. Customers who have already returned have been able to enjoy the quality, delicious food that they have missed for so long now. They have great plate lunches that they offer during the week along with their usual menu options.
Anyone can enjoy the excellent cooking at Bridge Street Grill on Sunday-Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and on Thursday-Saturday nights from 4:00 until 9:00.
