The Black School Sites Council of Clarke County Mississippi (BSSCCCMS), a nonprofit organization, is seeking volunteers and committee members to help preserve the history and legacy of Black schools in Clarke County.
Every community has stories and landmarks that help define its history. The BSSCCCMS is working to preserve those memories and document the legacy of Black schools in Clarke County. The organization is seeking local residents who are interested in helping preserve the history of these schools and their contributions to the community.
One of the organization’s goals is to erect historical markers that document the county’s educational heritage. Volunteers and committee members will help support this effort and work to preserve this history for future generations.
The next BSSCCCMS committee meeting will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Quitman, Miss. Anyone interested in supporting the committee’s work is invited to attend.
