Enterprise will play the Hornets at Lake at 7:30 p.m. Friday night. The MS High School Association ruled that regular season games in August and September will begin at 7:30 p.m. October games will begin at 7:00 p.m. Please make note!
Over the past three seasons the Enterprise Bulldogs have put themselves on the map for Mississippi High School football. With a total record of 32-5 since 2019, the Bulldogs look to have yet another successful season as they enter their second year of 3A ball. Enterprise has big expectations coming into the 2022-23 season as they capped off last year with a disappointing road loss to eventual 3A state champion Jefferson Davis County High School. The Bulldogs future looks bright though as they have a strong core of seniors who have an excellent opportunity to dominate yet again.
LAKE HORNETS Away
The Bulldogs are set for their season opener to be on the road at the Hornets house. Lake comes off of a 6-6 regular season followed by a second round playoff appearance. The Bulldogs made quick work of the Hornets in week one last season with a score of 32-13. Enterprise should open the gates with a dominating 20+ point win over the Lake Hornets.
PERRY CENTRAL BULLDOGS Home
Despite having a 3-7 record last season, Perry Central held the Bulldogs to a 12-0 win on the road. Enterprise will be playing with a loud home crowd and should take game two of the year with a 14+ point victory.
MIZE BULLDOGS Home
The Bulldogs had no issue with the 3-6 Mize Bulldogs last season as they dominated 35-0. The Enterprise Bulldogs will have no issue with this year as they host Mize and should win by 28+ points.
Every season a standout player for the Bulldogs seems to emerge and take the spotlight for Enterprise football. Head Coach Kelly Jimmerson doesn't like to look at the individuals though as he sees football as a team sport. “Overall, I'm worried about the whole team and not individuals.”. As Coach Jimmerson looks at the team as a whole, he also looks to improve the team overall. “I think there’s always things to improve on and consistency is a big one. Whether it’s in our attitude or our focus and having consistency at every practice. We are constantly trying to get better every day.”
STRINGER RED DEVILS Home
Stringer takes the difficult road to northern Clarke County to face the Bulldogs after losing 40-0 at home last season. Enterprise has done nothing but improve so the home crowd should expect to see a 30+ point victory.
QUITMAN PANTHERS Away
After a long stretch of home games the Bulldogs face their toughest road game of the year as they travel to their cross county rivals, Quitman. Last season Enterprise and Quitman rekindled a rivalry from Clarke County’s golden age as the Bulldogs ran off with a 42-19 homecoming victory. Quitman has a size advantage being a 4A school and also have a lust for Bulldog blood as they host Enterprise. But, the Bulldogs have retained a large portion of the players that got them the win last year, so Enterprise should take a 7+ point win on the road.
MORTON PANTHERS Home
Morton is a team who has proven in the past that they are not scared to play anyone at any time as they played two 6A squads last season. The Panthers have a chip on their shoulders this season as they too look to knock off the Bulldogs in a big revenge game. Enterprise did have a close game last year with a 20-14 win but should fare much better this season with a 10+ point win.
UNION YELLOWJACKETS Away
Last season Union gave Enterprise their most exciting game as the Bulldogs walked it off with a last second punt return touchdown. The Bulldogs travel to the Yellowjackets and will avoid a tight game situation from last year, winning by a comfortable 14+ points.
One of the biggest challenges a high school football team can face is graduation and the loss of the team's seniors. Coach Jimmerson isn't any different however yet has a lot of confidence in this year's seniors and juniors, “I’m always worried about gaps and unfilled shoes. People have stepped in and it’s not just seniors there are some juniors who have stepped in as well.”. With these new talented juniors and seniors, Coach Jimmerson focuses on every day to take this team to another deep playoff run. “It’s gonna take a lot of effort,a lot of focus because with winning comes distractions. We’ve had good runs in the past three years and the worst thing you can do is look past games.”.
CLARKDALE BULLDOGS (RUMBLE BY THE RIVER) Away
One of the most heated rivalries in east Mississippi is hosted by Clarkdale this year as they are under new management with former EHS principal, Marlon Brannon. Enterprise has won 17 straight against Clarkdale and the Bulldogs show no sign in slowing down this year. Enterprise should walk with a 17+ point victory.
SOUTHEAST LAUDERDALE TIGERS Home
The Bulldogs traveled to Southeast Lauderdale and dominated the 1-9 Tigers last season 48-14. Enterprise will have zero issues hosting Southeast Lauderdale as they will find themselves with a 30+ point victory.
FOREST BEARCATS Away
Enterprise made history last year when they beat Forest 42-7 to cap off a 10-0 season and 3A district championship. Despite a passionate Bearcat home crowd, Enterprise should dominate throughout the game to win 28+ points.
Enterprise will have all the opportunities in the world this season to take home yet another district championship and undefeated season. This Bulldog team will not only be led by head coach Kelly Jimmerson but also the 13 seniors: Cooper Galyean, Luke Hartman, Jacob Lee, Trace Roy, Carson Allan, Jake Shelby, Cam Wheat, Percell Lindsey, Isiah Baum, Dylan Gibbs, Ryland Heathcock, and Nathan Bailey. The Bulldogs are on the road for week one, so show out for your Bulldogs on August 26th at 7:30 at Lake High School. Go Dawgs!
