Mississippi held the 2022 Primary Election June 7. Clarke County only had one race to vote on last week – the Republican Primary of the 3rd Congressional District. Three contenders vied for the seat, Incumbent Michael Guest, Michael Cassidy and Thomas Griffin.
Clarke County voted: Cassidy 605, Guest 466, and Griffin 51. Only 1126 residents out of 11,086 registered voters turned out to the polls, and 48,000 voters statewide.
Statewide, Cassidy led the race 22,879 (47.5%) to Guest’s 22,592 votes (46.95), leading to a runoff. Cassidy won 12 of the district’s 20 counties and Guest eight.
A run-off election will be held June 28 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
