Cecil LaVelle Jenkins, 80, passed away on January 24, 2023.
He was the son of the late Perry and Esther Jenkins; he is also preceded in death by his brother, Lamar Jenkins.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Carol Jenkins; daughters, Wendy Wyolene Broom, Karen Lanell St. Germain; sisters, Elsie Welborn, Cathy Taylor; grandchildren, Ashley Gove, Lance Gove, and many more cherished grandkids; and his beloved French Bulldog, Gizmo.
LaVelle worked for 18 years at the McIntosh Power Plant in Lakeland, Florida. LaVelle loved cars and trucks and his home state of Mississippi. He greatly enjoyed Tampa Bay Bucs football and naps in his favorite recliner. He was a very passionate man, always kind and stoic in nature. He cherished Carol more than anything in the world; he loved to make her happy and put a smile on her face. He did not have a mean bone in his body. He was a family-oriented man.
Two services will be held—one here in Plant City, FL, and one in Quitman, MS, at Faith Tabernacle—please check back shortly for updates to service times.
The Plant City service took place Saturday, February 4, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Plant City, FL. The family received friends for the visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The service followed at 3:00 p.m.
