After the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade back in June, there has been a great deal of discussion regarding women’s choices.
The Center for Pregnancy Choices of Meridian intends to help women with unplanned pregnancies as much as they can.
“Our hope is for those facing an unplanned pregnancy to find hope in the fact that there is support available to them - free of charge - at the center,” explained Executive Director Sara Smith. “Our staff truly understands what it means to navigate the unforeseen challenges that can enter life unexpectedly. We want moms and dads to believe that they can be a great parent and still achieve the goals they’ve set out to accomplish in life. Whether it’s school, college, their career, or connecting with a community of caring people, we’re here to walk with them every step of the way.”
The center includes a variety of services: free pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, emotional support, options counseling, parent academy (online/in-person parenting class), supplies for mom and baby, community referrals, post-abortion support, and lactation and doula support. There is no age limit for the services, and all services are both free and confidential for anyone who needs to use them.
The center is also promoting for the public to take advantage of the Pregnancy Resource Act that Gov. Tate Reeves passed this year. The act is a dollar-for-dollar tax credit that allows business owners to earn up to 50% tax liability when they donate to a qualifying pregnancy center, such as Center for Pregnancy Choices in Meridian. The center encourages businesses to take advantage of the act and ensures businesses that it does everything it can to provide options to expectant mothers.
“Business owners should know that our center does not perform or refer individuals to abortion providers and we help eliminate as many barriers as possible to help moms choose life for their pre-born child,” expressed Smith. “When an individual feels seen, heard and their basic needs are met, they often find the hope that they are desperately seeking to empower them to take the next brave step forward.”
Anyone who may need to make an appointment with the center can do so by calling or texting their helpline at 601-527-8829 or using the website at www.cpcofmeridian.com. It is located at 2401 9th Street in Meridian and is open on Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
