The Clarke County Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting nominations for Citizen of the Year and Business or Industry of the Year awards.
Since 1977, the chamber has presented the Citizen of the Year award annually to recognize the most deserving person in the county for his or her contributions to the community the previous year.
There are certain requirements the individual who receives the award must meet. The following are the guidelines to nominate an individual believed to have made a significant contribution to the community:
• Someone who is respected in the county and has a good moral character
• Someone who has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability in the community and has been active and participated in as many community endeavors as possible
• Someone who has given service to the community beyond expectations of fellow citizens
• Someone who has given of themselves in the community for the betterment of the economic, religious, educational, cultural, social, and industrial activities of the county
• Someone who has demonstrated personal initiative and innovative ideas in the promotion of the county for a better way of life for its entire people
• Consideration for the award will not be based on success in personal business or professional activities pursued as a livelihood endeavor.
For the Business of the Year, the award is designed for any business or industry that has made a significant contribution to the economic growth or quality of life in the county during the year. The business must have created one or more jobs and must possess a positive attitude regarding business and growth in Clarke County.
The awards for 2023 will be presented at the Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting/banquet in early 2024. Citizens from all over the county are encouraged to nominate people and businesses they think are a good fit for the award.
To make a nomination, fill out a form provided by the chamber and return it to the Clarke County Chamber of Commerce office by December 29, 2023.
