It’s that time of year again to start thinking about all the people and businesses who have made such a huge impact on Clarke County this year!
The Clarke County Chamber of Commerce is preparing for the Annual Banquet that will be held on January 26, 2026, and are taking nominations for the Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year.
When thinking about the business to nominate for Business of the Year, keep the following guidelines in mind:
1. Outstanding leadership within the community (example: Community spirit and support of community projects)
2. Self-improvement in services to the public
3. Must have created a job(s)
4. Has a vision of and/or projections for the future
5. Must have a positive attitude toward business and growth in Clarke County
Certain criteria are looked for in the individual who will be named Citizen of the Year. To select an individual, please use the following guidelines:
• The recipient of the award shall be a person who is respected in the county and is of good moral character.
• The person should be someone who has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability in the community and has been active and participated in as many community endeavors as possible.
• The person should be someone who has given service to the community beyond expectations of fellow citizens.
• Consideration for selections and awards shall not be based on success in personal business or professional activities pursued as a livelihood endeavor.
• Someone who has given of themselves in the community for the betterment of the economic, religious, educational, cultural, social, and industrial activities of the county.
• Someone who has demonstrated personal initiative and innovative ideas in the promotion of the county for better way of life for its entire people.
People can make nominations for both Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year until December 31, so make sure to contact the chamber for a nomination form.
