Who is ready to start planning for all the wonderful Christmas events Clarke County has to offer? We are at the Tribune! This list is just the beginning. We will be adding to it as readers send in Christmas Events to add to the merriment. So get your jingle bells and Christmas shirts ready for the most hap-happiest time of the year!
• Countdown Around Town will be December 1 from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Shop at participating businesses around town to be entered into a Punch-Card Raffle. You’ll receive a punch-card with your first $10 purchase at a participating business. Receive a “punch” with any purchase at two more businesses to have your name entered to win a gift basket. Turn in your punch-card at your last stop to make sure your name is entered. Participating businesses are In Between Co., Just Teesin’, Rustic Couture, Kashi’s, T&G Athletics, M&M Florist, Libby’s Closet, and Fantasy Cottage.
• The Quitman Main Street Association will hold its Ole’ Tyme Christmas Festival on Saturday, December 2, on Main Street starting at 10:00 a.m. There are plans to have photos with Santa, live music, bounce house, great food, Little Feet Street, and different vendors. The Christmas Tree Lighting will take place at 6:30 p.m.
• The Shubuta Christmas Parade will take place on December 2 at 11:00 a.m.
• The Clarke County Christmas Parade will be held Monday night, December 4th, at 6:00 p.m. Lineup will take place on Harris Avenue (the street in front of Dart Container). The parade will proceed East onto Donald Street (Hwy. 512), turning north onto Archusa Avenue (Hwy. 145), and end, turning left onto Charleston Street (street next to fire department).
• The Stonewall Christmas Parade will take place on December 9 at 11:00 a.m.
• Clarkco State Park, located at 386 Clark County Road in Quitman, will have Cookies and Cocoa with Santa on December 9 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Take your own pictures with either Santa or the Grinch. There is a $2 entry fee to enter the park. For more information, contact the park at 601-776-6651.
• Journey Ministries will host the Journey to Bethlehem at Breckenridge Farms on December 15-17 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. It will consist of a live nativity acted out by churches in the community. Following the live nativity each night, there will be tent revival services. Bro. Danny Lanier is set to preach the services each night. The music each night will be as follows: Friday, December 15, 5:45 – 7:15 Brandon Rowell and Band; Saturday, December 16, Jason Oxenrider; Sunday, December 17, Southern Joy. Worship music will be provided under the tent each night at 7:30 prior to the sermon.
• The Enterprise Christmas Parade will take place on December 16 at 6:00 p.m.
