The Clarke County Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to host a Christmas Market on Main Street in Quitman on Saturday, November 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We want to see exciting, fun events in Quitman and Clarke County,” proclaimed Lora Kramer with the Chamber of Commerce. “We just want to bring life and fun into Clarke County. The whole point of the Chamber of Commerce is to promote local businesses, and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
Children will have a chance to meet and take pictures with Santa at a local restaurant, Chefski’s.
“Santa is going to be there,” declared Kramer. “He is going to be set up in Chefski’s. M&M Florist is going to decorate a tree to set the stage with Santa. People will be able to take their own pictures with Santa there.”
Those who attend will also be able to enjoy listening to the Quitman High School Jazz Band play on the courthouse lawn at 11:00, followed by the Quitman High School Choir performing. Once their performances are complete, people will still be able to enjoy the choir as they browse through the different vendors on Main Street.
“They’ll have their Christmas productions that morning, and then the rest of the time they’ll be going up and down Main Street doing traditional caroling,” explained Kramer.
In one area, they also intend to have a toy drive for local children.
Already, they have more than 50 vendors who are planning to attend. Some of the different vendors will consist of boutique booths, bake sales and food trucks, local crafters and artists, a poinsettia fundraiser, cookie decorating, and more.
“We’ve gotten so much traffic from vendors so far,” informed Kramer. “We’ve even had people from Lauderdale County and Alabama plan on attending. I want to see things coming to Clarke County.”
