On Thursday, June 2, Quitman Mayor Steve Watkins presented Jacy Waltman with a Historic Clarke County book as a way to encourage her in her endeavors as Clarke County Miss Hospitality.
She will be attending a pageant in Hattiesburg in July to compete for the state Miss Hospitality, and the mayor hopes that the book will demonstrate how proud the city is of her accomplishments and help her further reach her goals.
“We want to encourage you,” explained Mayor Watkins to Jacy. “This is a good opportunity for you, and this is a good opportunity for Clarke County and Quitman. We just wish you the best. We wanted to present you with this book, and this is probably more than you would ever want to know about Clarke County. This is all the history of Clarke County, and they did a great job with it and published it. Maybe there is something in there you can use. We just want to thank you.”
Jacy will have to prepare a speech and know different facts about the county when she participates in the upcoming pageant in Hattiesburg, so the book she was presented with will surely assist her in reaching her goals.
Congratulations Jacy and best of luck in all your future endeavors!
