Cletis McCarra, 88, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on May 17, 2026, at his residence.
He was born on June 19, 1937, to Floyd and Ola (Hayes) McCarra in Clarke County , MS.
Cletis bought his grandfather's home place and raised cows for over 50 years. He worked at Burlington Erwin Mills as an instructor/fixer for 45 years. He was an avid reader, golfer, and bowler.
Cletis is survived by his two daughters, Judy Harper and Melinda (Jeff) Graham; son, Mark McCarra; seven grandchildren, Laura "Max" Knoll, Anna Fuller, Julie (Corey) Godwin, Drew Graham, April (Kevin Loong) Graham, Jenni (Ian) Endsley, and Nicholas McCarra; four great-grandchildren, Karis (Gavyn) Dear, Abby Godwin, Hayden Godwin, and Leila Endsley; great-great-granddaughter, Evie Mae Dear; three sisters, Faye McCarra, Nina (Charles) Boswell, and Lucille (Robert) Dearman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ola McCarra; five brothers, Ralph McCarra, Bernice "Bunk" McCarra, Prentiss McCarra, Rodney McCarra, and Floyd "Curl" McCarra; and two sisters, Agnes Maxine Broadhead and Jewel Boozer.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, 10:00 a.m. at the Hebron Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Coats officiating.
