Jones College’s Nia Luckett has been named the MACCC Pitcher of the Week.
Luckett, a sophomore from Philadelphia, went 2-0 last week with 23 strikeouts in 12.0 innings pitched. She pitched 2.0 innings in a 9-4 win over Holmes, allowing no runs or hits and notching a strikeout. She pitched 6.0 innings, allowed three runs, four hits and struck out 11 as the Bobcats beat Hinds, 9-4. Luckett pitched 4.0 innings in a 10-0 win over East Mississippi, striking out 11 of the 12 outs she recorded. She gave up just two hits in the game and improved her record to 6-1.
Offensively, Luckett batted .611 (11-for-18) with two doubles, five RBIs, four stolen bases and 13 runs scored.
The No. 5 Bobcats visit No. 10 Copiah-Lincoln on Tuesday and travel to Coahoma for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday.
