The Spirit of Herod
“Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men.” (Matt. 2:16) What a horrible time in human history that was. Herod ordered the murder of all the male children under the age of two. And for what? His own political expediency.
It is sobering to think this is the last devotion I will write before our national election for president. By the next article, our nation will have chosen a president for the next four years. Our nation is headed on a tragic path of turning its back on God and His Word. We can’t keep thumbing our nose toward the One who made our nation great and expect His continual blessings. While His mercies are new every morning, He will hold our nation accountable for its sins. And no sin is greater than the continual slaughter of unborn children.
As God’s children, we must speak up for those who can not speak up for themselves. We must be the voice of the voiceless and the hand of rescue for those being abused. No group of people face the same dangers as the unborn children in America. Every day, over 3,000 children are ripped from their mother’s womb, and our nation turns a blind eye. The National Democratic Party has adopted the ‘spirit of Herod’ by promoting the horrendous murder of innocent lives, and some Americans keep voting for these baby murderers. Hillary Clinton supports partial birth abortion, which is the killing of innocent children, even late in the third trimester of pregnancy. Her policy is the epitome of evil and genuine Christians must stand against such horrors.
A couple of weeks ago I became a grandfather, and the thought of someone justifying the murder of my grandson an hour before his birth is unconscionable. I am an independent voter and my only allegiance is to Christ and Scriptures. I will rebuke and stand against all political platforms and policies that mock God, and none does so like the continual slaughter of children. Since 1974, over 57 million children have died at the hands of abortion clinics. A mother’s womb has become the most dangerous place in America.
We must not sell the soul of our nation to baby murderers, or any political machinery that promotes a culture of death. Today it is babies…tomorrow it will be the elderly and handicapped. As Christians, we are called to defend those who can’t defend for themselves. In the time it has taken you to read this article, 8 black children, 5 hispanic children, and 7 white children have been murdered by Hillary’s pro-death politics. God hears their voices—I pray the nation begins to hears ours. Let us stand up and be the voice that stops…the Spirit of Herod!
