A Better Way
"God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21) The beauty of the Christian faith is that it stands head and shoulders above every other belief system. It is like no other, and it offers hope that others can’t.
There are two ways to offer hope. One is to lie to people by giving them a false hope or offer them a hope based upon wishful thinking or deception. The other way is to offer them a genuine hope that is based upon verifiable facts and testimony. This hope will survive the test of time and experience.
Christianity is the only faith in which the God that is worshiped has accomplished everything that needs to be done to reconcile man to God. Every other religion proclaims what man needs to do to earn salvation, but Christianity proclaims that Jesus has already done everything. Every other religion says obey in order to be accepted, Christianity says we are free to obey because we have already been accepted.
Islam has its “five pillars of faith.” If you are faithful to them, perhaps “Allah” will accept you, but he could change his mind and cast you to hell anyway. On top of that, Muhammad was a murderous and violent man, even admitting that he was a sinner. He married a nine-year old girl and murdered countless people, including overseeing the beheading of over 500 Jews in one day. Not the type of leader to emulate.
Buddhism proclaims we must pursue the “eight-fold path of illumination.” According to this belief system, this way offers us release from the real enemy—desire. However, isn’t the pursuit to be free from desire a desire within itself? It is a self-defeating belief system.
Jehovah Witness’ knock on doors and pass out endless religious paraphernalia in the hope of earning their acceptance as one of Jehovah’s select few. Works, works, and more works, all while denying the Divinity of Christ and perverting the message of salvation. It is a bankrupt belief system that entraps those who swallow its poison. Likewise, Mormonism perverts the character of God, makes Jesus the brother of Lucifer, and offers empty promises to those who bite into its rotten apple of deception.
On the other hand, Jesus did what these other false religions could not do. When mankind could not get to God, God came to us. Jesus, the eternal Son of God, passed through the womb of a virgin, took on humanity and once and for all defeated sin and death on the Cross. He proved it with his resurrection and freely offers eternal life to all who will receive him through faith alone. Man can stop trying to earn salvation—Jesus purchased it for us. We don’t have to do good to earn God’s love. Instead, we are loved first and, therefore, free to do good. Hallelujah, there is… A Better Way!
