Last week I felt bad and went to the doctor to see what was going on. I went to the Enterprise Clinic and after getting several tests, I promised the nurse, Rhonda Kelly, that I would not mention in my personal column about how she tried to kill me.
I promised that I would not mention the fact that she used a 50 foot swab in my nostril to test for flu and a piece of rebar in the back of my throat to test for strep throat. The penicillin shot was the only thing that didn’t scare me. After she did those tests all I could see was the New Testament Bible on the counter and I felt like I needed to hold it in my hand after that experience.
Seriously, it wasn’t that bad but I wasn’t exactly the best patient. I was loud in the clinic, backed into the corner like a three year old and had to be coaxed into cooperating. I may or may not have called her Hitler. I can’t remember.
Rhonda is a great nurse and was very patient with me. Like most medical professionals, they are under appreciated and taken for granted. We have great resources right here in our county.
In next week’s Tribune, we will have a Medical Profile spotlighting all the great medical facilities and resources that are offered in Clarke County. We started the project back in October and wanted to give our readers a product they can keep for handy reference of the facilities and services.
This is our way of letting the medical community know they are appreciated and the services are much needed for a rural community in which we live.
Our medical staff work long hours, provide compassionate care and truly want to give back to the community in which they also live.
