In the mid 1800's there was a civil war in Mexico which pitted those who believed in a separation of church and state against those who favored a strong religious foundation from which government worked. The government debt was out of control and foreign debt payments were suspended. The French decided that they would use this opportunity to seize control and establish a Latin empire.
A well-armed French force landed and moved toward Mexico City but met a much smaller and poorly equipped Mexican army at Puebla, on May 5th, where the French were decisively crushed by an unlikely victor. At the time they were considered the premier army in the world.
I will stop with the history lesson here for literary purposes but it gives you the idea of why the French were defeated. Considering themselves superior, they thought that doing business as usual gave them the rights of victors; they overlooked those who fought for freedoms and against tyranny.
A lot of fun has been poked at the French and their armies since then. It has basically come to mean ineptness in battle while they continue to be haughty to others because of their superiority, or something. I like the word haughty. To me it brings to mind all things European. I'm not sure if it's French but I'm going to believe that it is because it describes their attitude to all things going back hundreds of years. It's definitions of disdainfully proud, snobbish, and scornfully arrogant fit the view that they have of America. The same America who has come to aid twice. But this isn't about the French.
When it comes to America's beltway aristocracy, the word haughty fits like it's tattooed on each and every one of them. They reside in their Georgetown homes, vacation with the elite of New York, and look at the rest of us as not fit to wash a pig. Words cannot describe the pleasure that I have felt these past few months watching them scurry around wondering what has happened to their election process that has been hijacked by the American people.
Trotting out burro after burro and telling us that we need to fall in line behind this latest racehorse. I have to hand it to the Democrats because they don't try and fool anyone. Their candidates this year are a socialist and someone who is further left than that. They're not trying to hide it.
Snobbery is a self-elevated platform. Being wealthy or powerful doesn't make you any better than anyone else but it has been used as a tool for those who would be our masters to control us. They use words to make us think it's good for everyone and broadcast them to us daily like manna from on high. They have long decided what you would hear and learn to try and shape the narrative on everything. Those days have long passed by because of the prevalence of internet reporting. Like the French army, they went into this election cycle thinking that things were going to be the same because it's their right to be in charge.
Like the French, an unlikely foe has beaten them back without all the (once) powerful tools used for years. This primary victory, by one who is looked down upon with disdain because he is brash, loud, and has dared to voice truth in the face of a wall of lies and deceit, makes me want to giggle like a 5th grader.
If the rest of the election doesn't turn out like its going I will be a little disappointed. I believe that God is ultimately in control over rulers and nations but I'd still like for ours to return to what it once was. However He decides to do it. Just as the 5th of May was a victorious footnote in the Mexican civil war, it will now be celebrated by me as a step towards unyoking us from the liberalist/socialist anchor that has its chains around our throat. Those who would celebrate freedoms and release from tyranny. I wait in anticipation.
Until next week. ags.
