What's past is, Collectible?
In a recent flurry of activity, we went up to our old house and cleaned (mostly) out everything that we had accumulated and quit using. We had that most wonderful of Americanism's here at 126, a yard sale. We had stuff from the children's early lives, our early lives, and the early lives of some relatives who had passed on before that we deemed important at one point in our lives. With the settling in here at 126 we (mostly Tena) have decided what we want to display here and it doesn't include a lot of the "collectibles" that I brought home.
Tena had a kind of a sad moment when looking at all the accumulation disappear into the trunks, backseats, and truck beds of people who passed by and stopped to purchase some of the things that were for sale. She made the statement that for a hoarder, watching other people go through, pay for, and leave with your stuff was a hard thing to do. She says we are recovering hoarders now but I told her to speak for herself. I haven't started on a full shed of accumulations up there yet.
In the past 6 or 8 months I have written a lot about politics and what this election means to us as a nation. It is my beliefs in God and His promises that mostly pushed that. To me, it didn't really matter who ran against HiLIARy or any national Democrat because of the beliefs of the DNC. For one who understands God's grace for our lives and how he feels about life itself, it's impossible for me to align myself with an entity that proscribes abortion as a national platform. If I truly offended anyone I am not apologizing but would love the opportunity to discuss these views and the sanctity of life.
The message at CCC this morning was about basic bible study and a primer/reminder of how-to. It went off the premise of Paul's question to the Christ when he had his own redemption on the road to Emmaus. "Who are you Lord?” he asked and it is the question we are to ask daily as we study and pray. To try and find Christ in everything we read, everything we see, and everything we hear. To ask the questions daily are we following Him in everything we do? Something I fail at daily but that doesn't stop me from trying to recognize who is actually in charge here and this election means squat as far as the kingdom of God is concerned. We can't find Jesus by living in the past and/or worrying about the future.
The mostly true statement about things is that they change. Things we once thought were important in our lives have a way of finding their way to another place and sometimes that place is the trash. The little bit of sadness I might feel about seeing things from the past are replaced with the joy of the present. I remember our young lives with babies and smile but wouldn't trade now for anything you could give me. I think this is a dangerous and desperate time in our nation as the powers of globalism seek to take our rights away, but God is in charge and I trust Him. I'll trust Him for the future of my children and unborn grands also. If HiLIARy is part of His plan then let it be so. I won't trade yesterday for tomorrow. I appreciate you, weekly readers. Until next week. ags.
