"I pray Heaven to bestow the best of blessings on this house and on all that shall hereafter inhabit it. May none but honest and wise men ever rule under this roof?" John Adams in a letter to his wife, upon moving into the White House. This is printed in the flyleaf of a 1996 book by Tom Clancy called Executive Orders. In it the government has been devastated by a terrorist act and only the newly sworn in vice-president has survived. He is tasked with rebuilding the government, earning the trust of a shocked nation, learning how to be presidential and making decisions that were unpopular to some. His fights with a liberal, hostile press, all while being undermined internally, and being forced to deal with nations bent on the destruction of peace, makes for a great read. I'm thankful I don't have to do a book report on it because of the 1300 some odd pages in between the covers.
President Trump has called the Liberal media and "enemy of the people". I'm of mixed feelings about this statement but I see where he is coming from. Media contributions were tilted favorable toward Democrats more than 10 times the amount to the Republicans, more than 96%. That in it should be cause for introspection but the witch hunt type hunger for stories involving republican scandal has become a farce. Nothing is off limits to try and bring down a man who has given up his billionaire lifestyle to try and correct the direction of travel of our nation. He has circumvented the press in a myriad of ways including Twitter, with his 26+ million followers, and even there news sites like Politico, CNN, and CNBC have called it a "national security threat". The battle has been joined. No one is immune
I'm not a big conspiracy person but the money that George Soros is pouring into this country trying, and in some cases succeeding, to foment rebellion. The Hungarian Billionaire obviously believes that he can bring down a presidency by giving money to every cause aligned against POTUS. Like in the Clancy book, conspiracy is afoot across the globe to try and keep our government off balance enough so that nothing good can be accomplished. It's my belief that Mr. Trump has enough business acumen that he knows the way to solve problems is to identify and delegate. He has installed people with business experience and common sense over problem areas to try and stamp out the Deep State.
It has been rumored that twitter accounts from inside government agencies are actually promoting rebellion against the very government, and by government us, they purport to represent. There is nothing good to come of this and I'm hoping that it's started to be run like any large corporation. Trimming the fat by getting rid of redundancy, laying off or firing those who think it's their right to act as they please, getting agencies back to the goals they were designed for. The re-correction of NASA back into a space agency for example. The EPA and IRS are other great places to start. In the book, POTUS overcomes his enemies by being truthful, brave, and forthright. All qualities our current POTUS has, if he's willing and allowed to use them. Will life imitate art? Until next week. ags
