The Town of Shubuta swore in a new police chief, Deanna Bettinger, at the town hall on November 12. Deanna is excited for this new opportunity to work with Shubuta.
“I’m honored to be able to serve the Town of Shubuta,” expressed Deanna. “My focus is going to be primarily the community policing aspects and hopefully making the residents of the Town of Shubuta glad about us working to make the city a safer and better place to reside”
Deanna graduated from the police academy about three years ago and has been serving as a full-time officer in Waynesboro and part-time officer in Quitman for two years. Mayor Baba Peebles is thrilled to be able to hire Deanna on as a full-time police chief for the town and believes that it will really be beneficial for the residents of Shubuta.
“I’m glad we have a police officer who will take the time to come to Shubuta and help make our city safer than it already is,” proclaimed Baba.
She will officially begin working in the town on Friday, November 19.
