I, Bryan McLaughlin, would like to officially announce my intention to seek the Democratic nomination for the office of Justice Court Judge, District 1. I have been a lifelong resident of Clarke County since 1992 and have a strong desire to serve the citizens within this county in an upright manner.
I am the son of Mac (Paul) McLaughlin and Dora Donald-McLaughlin. I was raised under a Christian household. My father, being a Pentecostal preacher, taught me to never be afraid to go after what I want in life. I learned from my mother to always treat people with the same level of respect regardless of whether that person may be the custodian or the CEO of a company.
I currently serve within a division of state government that operates under the umbrella of rehabilitation services. I have been employed by the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) for the last four years. Within that role, I act as a Case Manager and assist in the daily functional operations of a community rehabilitation program. Our staff works with individuals with disabilities and promotes the development of real-life job skills while these participants are in our work training program. The goal of this process is to help them to be better prepared to enter or return to the workforce and have the confidence to maintain stable employment.
I attended three institutions of higher learning during my educational career. I am a summa cum laude graduate with a 3.94 GPA from William Carey University. I graduated in 2018 with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. I also hold a Baccalaureate from The University of Southern Mississippi, majoring in Psychology and an Associate’s Degree from Meridian Community College.
My interest in the political realm stems back to my involvement in the Student Government Association during undergraduate.
I believe that the citizens of Clarke County need someone with good moral standing who will continue to uphold and execute the right judgement in and out of the courtroom. I will make it my primary focus as your next Justice Court Judge to be impartial and make the best decisions pertaining to the cases assigned to me. In every opportunity that I’ve been called on to lead whether it be educationally, occupationally, or religiously, I have always focused on the “Big Picture.” I have an honest reputation within my community; however, with your help alone can we win this fight. Despite the fact that there are other candidates who may choose to run for this office, if I am able to receive the support from the citizens within District 1, I will sustain the same level of motivation and determination as the previous judges who have held this office in times past.
Our community is filled with so much uniqueness and individuality. Although each of us comes from diverse religious, educational, and occupational backgrounds, I ask that you search deep within your heart and vote for the candidate who will demonstrate the level of leadership and character needed to be successful in this role.
Your vote matters.
A vote for me will be “a step in the right direction.”
