• Historic Clarke County, Inc. Downtown Historical Tour - Friday, December 2, at 5 p.m. McNair-Gavin House, 116 East Church Street. Learn the historical significance with interesting facts and stories of seven buildings in the Quitman Downtown Mill District. This event is free to the public.
A little change to our upcoming Historic Downtown Tour. A tour guide will be stationed at each of the six locations so you may start and visit the locations in whichever order you wish between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. Please note that all are handicap assessable except for the McNair-Gavin House. You may wish to dine at Chefski’s in the historic Kirkland General Merchandise Store building this evening before or after the tour and enjoy refreshments at the McNair-Gavin House
• The City of Quitman Main Street is proud to announce the upcoming Ole' Tyme Christmas Festival and Tree Lighting Event on Saturday, December 3, in the Quitman Downtown Historical District from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The official lighting of the Christmas Tree will be at 6:00 p.m. mainstreet@ci.quitman.ms.us.
• Town of Shubuta Christmas Parade – The Town of Shubuta will hold its Christmas Parade Saturday, December 3, at 12 noon. Everyone is welcome to participate.
• Clarke County Christmas Parade - The Clarke County Christmas Parade will be held Monday night, December 5th, at 6:00 p.m. Line-up will begin at 5 p.m. Location/Parade Route: Lineup will take place on Harris Avenue (the street in front of Dart Container). The parade will proceed East onto Donald Street (Hwy 512), turning North onto Archusa Avenue (Hwy 145), and end, turning left onto Charleston Street (street next to fire department). Floats, horses, antique vehicles, and semis are all welcomed to participate and show off your Christmas Spirit. Prizes for entry include 1st place entry $100; 2nd place entry $50; 3rd place entry $25. If you would like to participate, contact the Clarke County Chamber of Commerce at 601-776-5701.
• Live drive through nativity featuring seven scenes depicting the birth of Jesus provided by seven local churches at Breckenridge Farms, 181 Americana Dr., Shubuta. Drive through from 5:30-7 p.m. Tent revival beginning at 7 p.m. each night. Friday, Dec. 9 - music 6-7 by Southern Joy, message by Bro. Jeremy Clearman, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. • Town of Stonewall Christmas Parade – The Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Christmas Parade Saturday, December 10, at 5 p.m. Line up begins at 4 p.m. at Stonewall Pentecostal Church Parking Lot, then will travel Hwy. 513 to Jones College. • Town of Enterprise Parade and Tree Lighting – The Town of Enterprise will hold its annual parade and Christmas Tree Lighting beginning at 6 p.m. at Ritchey Park after the parade. Chili will be provided by 3S Cowboy Church. Hot chocolate by Enterprise Fire Department.
