Summertime is renowned for more than just its suffocating heat; it is also well-known for camping, fishing, and just spending time in the water.
Clarke County has been blessed with two amazing parks that are perfect for camping. One of those parks is none other than Archusa Creek Water Park, and they have been busy making various improvements to make it even better for its customers. It has recently added two new options for camping, and they make sure to keep reasonable rates for anyone who is interested in staying.
“We have a new Loop C, and we have we have two bungalows. The bungalows are located close to the beach area. They’re perfect for a couple. They are one bedroom, one bath, and set up like a studio. It is only $96.30 a night to stay in one of the bungalows. Loop C is behind the primitive camping and stage area. They aren’t waterfront, and we have three pull through sites and four back in sites. We opened up the new loop so that we could grow bigger since we have so many customers and needed more spaces. It costs $26.75 a night to stay in Loop C. For Loops A and B, it costs $29.96 a night to stay on a waterfront and $26.75 a night to stay inland,” explained Donna Miles, one of the park workers. “We also have four cabins that people can stay in for $139.10. To book a cabin, you have to go through cabin reservations at Hattiesburg. They have the number 1-800-748-9403.”
Camping spots tend to book up quickly, so it is important to try and reserve a space in a timely manner.
“For a spot during peak seasons, people would need to call and book a space a few months in advance,” expressed Donna. “If it is for a major holiday, such as the Fourth of July, then they would need to reserve a space a year to date in advance. Everything is always first come first serve.”
Camping amenities aren’t the only things that people are able to enjoy at Archusa. In recent years, they have updated a playground for children to use. They also have multiple options for fun on the water. In fact, they have recently created a new boat pass that is a cheaper option than in years past.
“We do have a new family boat pass where you come in and buy a boat pass for $150, and it includes five people in a boat. Where people were buying annual passes for one person in the boat, they can now do it for five people, and it’s a lot cheaper,” informed Donna. “We do have two kayaks to rent out. They’re only $21.40 a day to rent and are available from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.”
The park understands that some people enjoy riding golf carts and ATVs around the park area and also have a policy in place for customers to be able to do that.
“If you bring an ATV, you have to have proof of insurance and have to buy a golf cart permit, which is $32.10 a year,” stated Donna. “The drivers must be 16 and older.”
When it comes time to camp or simply enjoy a day on the water, people are guaranteed to have a great time at Archusa Creek Water Park.
