With a wonderful daughter, eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren, Nadine Allen has answered to several names: mama, mawmaw, mawmaw Nadine, mawmaws, and nonna. While granny is not a name she has ever been called, she is grateful, honored, and humbled to be named “Granny of Honor” for one day at Coming Home to Clarke County.
Nadine has a busy life and loves it. During the week, she can be found baking and cooking at The Rustic Freeze. In 1988, she received her first catering order for 14 red velvet cakes. She has been cooking for people almost daily since then.
On Sundays, she can be found playing the piano in church. She has served as the church pianist since the age of 13. Presently, Nadine plays at Hopewell Church in Quitman and Mt. Sterling Baptist in Butler, AL. She is so thankful that God allows her that privilege.
This is the first parade that she will be participating in, and she looks forward to everyone she will see and speak with at the event.
