The Annual Muscadine Music Festival and Car Show will take place Saturday, July 1, on Main Street in Quitman from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
There are big plans for the event, including live entertainment, a BBQ cook off, vendors, and the car show.
“The plan is to block Main Street up. We’ll have the car show in the Chamber’s parking lot. We’ll have all the vendors down Main Street like last year. We’ll just play games and music until 4:00,” stated Tracy McCarty, founder.
Plans have been made for live performances. Any local groups who would like to perform are welcome to participate and simply need to call and book a time with Tracy. With it being an election year, Tracy is also opening it up for candidates to have a few minutes each to speak if they would like.
“Especially with it being an election year, we’re looking for candidates to come and speak about their plans for Clarke County,” informed Tracy. “It would be just a brief speech to let people know who they are and what their agenda is.”
There are plans to have various vendors set up along Main Street. Tracy hopes to have a large variety of vendors for people to browse as they walk along the street. So far, the following vendors are set to attend: Pigout food truck, Dale’s Fried Fish, The Garage food and drinks, Nana’s Sweet Ice, Paparazzi, Scentsy, The Chop Chop Gallery, The Drink Factory, Razor Thin, PSLM Consignment, The Pullup, All Things by Shea T-Shirts, Abraham McKenzie for Sheriff, and lemonade. Other vendors are also welcome to attend.
He would like to have more stuff for kids to participate in as well.
“One thing I didn’t have last year and would like to have this year is something that’s more for kids to participate in and have something to do,” expressed Tracy. “I’d love if there was somebody interested in putting together some type of games or something for kids to participate in.”
Other than the car show, one of the big events that will be judged is a BBQ cook off. Cooks will go head to head with a specific menu and see who can win the large money prize for best BBQ. There is a $100 entry fee to participate in the cook off, and the winner will receive a $500 prize.
The judging for both the car show and cook off will begin at 2:00 p.m. He will need different volunteers to help set up, clean up after the event, judge, and help out during the day. For anyone in need of service hours, he is willing to sign hour sheets.
If anyone would like to be a vendor there is a $50 fee. There is a $25 fee to participate in the car show.
