The Enterprise Bulldogs hosted the Forest Bearcats last Thursday night for seniors night. With the win, the Bulldogs added the word “undefeated” to their season- first time since 1987. The Bulldogs started off swinging with a massive pass to Zee Sims on the second play of the game. With perfect field position, Gavyn Dear pushed one in for six and the Trace Roy PAT was good. Forest attempted to respond quickly, but the Bulldogs made a huge fourth down stop on the five yard line. Derryon Gray took the snap and was forced to scramble but turned the botched play into a massive gain to end the first and put the Bulldogs at midfield.
Parks Burt refused to be tackled as he made a rush to the goal line to start off the second quarter. Gray made a short rush up the middle for a Bulldog touchdown, and the PAT was good. Forest didn’t give up and forced a fumble at the fifty yard line to bring a new life to the Bearcat offense. The Enterprise defense stood strong and forced a punt which set up a big run by Parks Burt. Gray checked down deep to connect with Blake Wilkins, and the huge pass added six to the score. Roy added the PAT. Bulldogs kicked off, but Forest fumbled and the ball was quickly recovered by Enterprise. Zee Sims made a solid run from the Bearcat 20, and the Bulldogs scored again. The PAT was good. To end the first half, Gavyn Dear made a huge run from the Enterprise five and put six on the board. The snap for the PAT was dropped and recovered by Gray who passed it deep in the endzone for an insane two point conversion. Bulldogs lead 36-0 at the half!
Enterprise started off the second half on the wrong footing, by giving up a fumble and allowed a touchdown pass for the Bearcats. Junior varsity players were starting to be substituted into the line-up during the fourth quarter to end an uneventful fourth. As the starting offense was headed to drench Coach Wilkins with ice water, Tanner Sanders made a massive run from deep inside Bulldog territory for the final touchdown. The PAT was no good.
The final whistle blew, Coach Wilkins drenched with ice cold water in celebration of a perfect season, the 2021 Bulldogs wrote a little history with the 10-0 regular season record and Region5-3A champs in the new football class. Gray was 3 of 7 for 102 passing yards and rushed five times for 36 yards. Tanner Sanders had 89 yards on two carries. Dear finished with 73 yards while Parks Burt collected 70 yards. Roy rushed four times for 57 yards and Sims had 30 yards on five carries along with a 42-yard catch.
