Those who enjoy camping and spending time in the great outdoors will love the new option available at Clarkco State Park. Tentrr, a company that is known as the Airbnb of camping, has partnered with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks to bring glamping to different areas in Mississippi.
Each site that Tentrr sets up includes a tent placed on a raised platform, a pop-up tent, a queen size bed, two Adirondack chairs, a picnic table, a fire pit, a cooler, and a dry box to keep items dry. The tents do not leak and will not have rain getting underneath them since they are built up on a platform.
Although they do have a queen size bed that has a mattress cover on it, there are items that the camper will be responsible for bringing. The campers will have to bring their own sheets, blankets, and pillows for each night. Campers will also be responsible for making their own washing and drying arrangements.
Clarkco has seven of these sites, with one of those being a double. They are located along a hiking path and have beautiful views while maintaining a sense of seclusion from other campers. Two of the tents have parking along the road, and the other five sites will have parking in the primitive camping area and will have to make a short hike to the campsites. A bathhouse and restrooms are located in the primitive camping area.
“These tents are nothing short of amazing!” exclaimed Brendan Hamburg, campguide host. “I’m so excited to get to meet everyone and hear many stories of the campers’ experiences!”
Brendan will be the point of contact for those staying in the tents. He personally cleans each site after each use to make sure that everything remains clean and sanitized for each guest.
Park Manager Toney Fleming is excited about the partnership with Tentrr and believes that it is a magnificent addition to the park.
“We are looking forward to this new partnership with Tentrr,” declared Toney. “It will be another way for campers and families to enjoy the outdoors. It can be for all ages and families; they can then spend more time hiking and enjoying the park instead of putting up a tent. At the same time, the park is utilizing land that can bring in revenue.”
While the tents are located at Clarkco, they are not reserved through Clarkco. Anyone who is interested in reserving a site can do so by booking on tentrr.com. The cost of tent prices is $75 a night.
