The Clarke County 4-H held a County Cookoff Contest in the Cashsaver parking lot. Five youth participated in the event.
Cashsaver sponsored the event and donated all the meat for the contest. They also served as the great judges for the event.
“Eddie Parker, store manager, and Ryan Bufkin, assistant store manager, served as judges,” stated Clarke County Extension Agent Christy King. “Ryan is also a former 4-Her who has won the overall beef cookout contest during his tenure as a 4-Her. He was very interested in giving back to 4-H and knew that in his position as assistant store manager this was one way he could do that.”
Tyler and Jonathan Hearn participated in the pork division of the cookoff. In the end, Tyler finished second, and Jonathan finished first and won overall pork champion.
In the beef division, Alex Harris won first place in the cloverbud steak division. In the junior steak division, Jackson King came in third, Anna Davis came in second, and Aubrey Harris came in first place. Alex Harris was named the Overall Beef Champion.
The young 4-H members enjoyed their time at the cookoff and did an incredible job!
